Grizzled Nearly

I’ve been to so many places

Seen so many spaces

Traveled far and near

I’ve seen ranges of mountains

Drank water from fountains

Cup my hands while sun-drenched

Carried the world on my shoulders

Now I’m getting older

Remembering when

I’ve bathed in rivers

And slept near the ocean

I’m so fortunate

Will anyone ever see?

Will anyone ever know?

What crossed right in front of me

Will anyone ever see?

Will anyone ever know?

What crossed right in front of me

Like missing birth or a death your own

I Lived in so many places

Slept in various spaces

Traveled everywhere

I’ve seen the seas and the oceans

It brought all things into focus

Now I drift to one

Will anyone ever see?

Will anyone ever know?

What crossed right in front of me

Will anyone ever see?

Will anyone ever know?

What crossed right in front of me

Like missing birth or a death your own

The Wreckage

Open up your eyes pupils wide

Dilated from the light

Such a shocking sight

Stare at the wreckage and death

As I’m trapped underneath

Metal and rubber crimped

(The wreckage)

Sirens blaring in my ears

Party lights red, blue, and white

As they use the jaws of life I’m pulled from the mangled mess alive

While others beneath the wreckage die

Is this a horrid dream?

Is this a horrid dream?

My Dream is Slipping Away

I find it hard enough to do what I’ve done before

That I will write it down again next time

I find it hard to see what stands in front of me

To take control, to fly the clouds, to figure it out

Dream is slipping away

The movement beneath the lids locks me in

The time for sleep is when the adventure begins

I can go anywhere in the world with anyone holding my left hand

And when I rise I clench the future tightly with my right hand

Dream is slipping away

Wooden Staircase

Not covered in carpet

Only exposed blocks of wood

A grainy texture

Varnished like rosewood

But where does it lead me?

To some far away land

The sun shines through the sky light

Ushering dreams so grand

I race up the staircase

Skipping steps like a pro

I spin around and look down

At myself below

But how did I get here?

Were my choices so poor?

I’m now part of the sunshine

I’m holding the door

Saved from the Sea of Japan

Black tide, dim light, tip of the waves white

Kids play, parents look away, pushed down into the waves

Sucked down, likely will drown, no supervision to be found

A scary sight, something inside, tells me to dive

The water’s frigid

Take cover from the cold

Swim frantically, clothing heavy, I’m completely soaked from head to toe

My arms exhausted, The kid, I got ‘em, time to carry him ashore

Relief from Snow with Dan in tow, they lend a hand pulling us in

What are the odds; because we arrived he is alive

The water’s frigid

Take cover from the cold

I know why I went

To be Saved from the Sea of Japan

The water’s frigid

I’m numb from the cold

(That day the waves were so high

I heard the screams and realized that the water had taken you

Without a second thought I jumped in

I knew I had to get to you no matter what

I realized I wasn’t the only one

We were all fighting to save you from the water

The further we swam the more time seemed to slow down

What took a few minutes to reach you felt like a lifetime

Eventually we got you and made it back to shore)

The water’s frigid

I’m numb from the cold

I know why I went

To be Saved from the Sea of Japan

Beat Around the Bush

At every turn you really want it but you don’t

Every time you really bleed but you don’t

Walk around all day with the sand in your way

Don’t you know I want to know?

Every time I go in, you’re the one that’s riding

And I know it’s for sure

You’re about to drive me crazy

Don’t you know you really got me for a while

Come on say it but you won’t

Please, please do me a favor baby

Do whatcha gotta do

I know whatcha going through

(Always do whatcha say)

(Never get in your way)

(I will never complain)

(Never running away)

(Never get in your way)

(Say whatcha say)

(When you’re doing your thing)

(I know what I know)

(Just go with the flow)

(And I’m ready to roll)

I'm Here to Help

The things that you’re going through we go through them together

I’m sure we’ll find the end, we’ll do it I know we can

The problems we’ve kept within, we must protect each other

I admire you the most, I’m glad that I have you close

Slow down and calm down

I don’t want you to do everything yourself

I’m here to help

Slow down and calm down

I don’t want you to do everything yourself

I’m here to help

Experiences that we’ve shared, we’ve shared them all together

I wouldn’t change a thing, I’m living in a dream

I wouldn’t dare move on, I am with you forever

What we’ve built up is trust and I’m never giving up

Slow down and calm down

I don’t want you to do everything yourself

I’m here to help

Smoke/Drift to the Bottom of the Sea

Thanks…

I am your disgrace

Tell me everything you want to hear

I will go along in silent fear

I will go to your place

I will say it to your face

I will blow it all your way

If you go your own way don’t forget me

If you sing your own song do it with me

I won’t say it all again, my love

And if you go alone now, bring your friend

I will go to your place

I will say it to your face

But I won’t hesitate blowing smoke down your way

I will say it to your face

I will blow it all your way

I will go all your way
